Program

During the morning on Sunday 16 September HH the Dalai Lama will give a public talk entitled ‘Why Compassion is Essential in our Troubled World.’ As a prelude to the public talk, HH and Richard Gere, actor and chairman of International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), will mark ICT’s thirtieth jubilee with a discussion about The Dalai Lama’s life inside and outside Tibet.

This will be followed by an interesting afternoon program, with a teaching entitled: ‘The Power of Compassion in your Daily Life’ given by Geshe Thupten Jinpa, His Holiness’ main translator and author of the book ‘A fearless heart: how the courage to be compassionate can transform our lives'.

Following this, the film ‘The Last Dalai Lama’ will be shown. Amongst other things, this film gives us an insight into His Holiness’ interest in research into methods through which we can learn to understand our emotions.

On Monday morning, 17 September, HH the Dalai Lama will give a Buddhist teaching on Langri Thangpa’s text ‘Eight Verses for Training the Mind in Compassion.’ This text gives a clear explanation of how to develop and practice compassion.
